When comprehensive immigration reform is passed in Congress, millions of immigrants will need to have basic English language skills necessary to meet citizenship requirements.
Nonprofit organizations that provide English language classes are ramping up to meet the forecasted increase in demand. One such organization is Building Skills Partnership, a grantee of Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which works with local Silicon Valley companies to connect high-tech workers with new immigrants seeking to build their English skills and expand their professional opportunities.
